Bukwo: Knife Attackers Raid Police Post, Steal Gun

Police in Bukwo district is hunting for three unknown people who raided Alalam Police Post on Sunday and made off with a gun and 30 rounds of ammunition.

In the attack, police said that the men who were armed with machetes assaulted a one Police constable number 49750 identified as Walter Opio who was stabbed several times leaving him unconscious.

It is said that attackers got the victim while taking tea in front of his house at Alalam Police Post.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and investigations have commenced.

Meanwhile, police i Jinja district intercepted four suspected armed robbers and recovered a pump action rifle.

According to police, the suspects identified as  Suleiman Lukwago, Rogers Wabuyeka, Sharif Ngobi and Nelson Waiduba were arrested at Ivunamba Budondo Parish while  travelling in a Toyota premio registration UAT 654W.

The rifle that the suspects were arrested with had been reported to have been stolen by unknown people on 1st January 2019 from a one Cyrus Obwoch a private security guard of companion security services in Jinja.

The four men are currently detained at Jinja Central Police Station pending interrogation.
