East Africa’s ‘Got Talent’ Franchise Show Launched In Uganda

Tanzanian media Conglomerate, Clouds media has Wednesday this week announced the inaugural season of the first ever East Africa’s got talent TV show.

The show which is to be shot in four Countries Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda, is anticipated to be adapted for the East African Market.

The show, which is part of “Got Talent” franchise, started in 2014 by Simon Cowell, will have acts ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous battle it out for a chance to be crowned the most talented East African.

‘Got Talent’ is the World’s most successful reality TV format ever and has since spawned spin offs in over 60 Countries. The Got Talent format has had more than 900 million global viewers since it began airing in 2006 and has aired in over 194 markets worldwide.

While speaking at the press conference on Wednesday this week, Joseph Kasuga, the CEO Clouds media international cited that they are excited to bring such an amazing experience to East Africa, which will help provide platform to the performers to show case their talent.

“We are excited to bring this show to East Africa and give performers of any kind, a chance to showcase their talent and tell the East African story through singing, dancing, comedy, traditional Music instruments and magic.

We would like to thank Safaricom M pesa for connecting people and all our other partners for coming on board and playing a part in discovering the next generation of talent from East Africa,” said Kasuga.

Performers of any kind are free to enter, including singers, dancers, instrumentalists, magicians, comedians and novelty acts among others.

Auditions for the show, will kick off in Kenya in May, with pre-auditions in Nairobi, then move on to Uganda in May 19 at Pearl of Africa Hotel and later on in Tanzania and Rwanda.

Those participants who will qualify from Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda, will travel to Kenya for the live shows.

Comic Ann Kansiime, who will be the Show’s host, expressed her excitement, saying she is proud to usher in the next talents, which have been lacking platform.

The 10 episodes’ show will be airing in August this year, with the semifinals and grand finale shot live on location in Kenya. The winner will get to walk away with USD 50,000(Shs 190,000,000 M) as voted by the audience.
