Nine members of the Makindye based General Court Martial are among the officers who were last week elevated to higher ranks in the army, by the Commander in Chief, Gen Yoweri Museveni.
The army last weekend announced that Museveni had promoted a total of 2031 UPDF Soldiers, among them former SFC Commander Muhoozi Kainerugaba who was elevated from the rank of Major General to Lieutenant General.
Among the army court officers who were promoted is RO 01461 Brigadier General Arocha Joseph who is now Major General and Major Raphael Mugisha the court’s lead prosecutor, who was promoted to Lt Colonel.
Two other prosecutors Samuel Maserejje and Ambrose Baguma were promoted from Captain to Major and Lieutenant to Captain respectively.
Other officers promoted include Major Frank Tumwesigye now a Lieutenant Colonel, Captain Richard Turyamuhabwa who is now a Major, Captain Bagutanya Kakooza, who a Major and Captain Ssekayita Charles also a major.
The promoted officers appeared in court today duly dressed in accordance with their new ranks.
At the court, the most of the counsels could be heard congratulating the court members upon their new ranks.
