The State Minister for Ethics and Integrity in the Ugandan government Simon Lokodo has distanced himself from rumors that he has stopped the highly anticipated Neon at the bridge party pending clearance from his office.
It should be noted that the first of a kind bridge side part is slated to take place on Saturday this week.
Interacting with ChimpReports on phone from Kyankwanzi, Lokodo who also doubles as the Dodoth west legislator sounded unaware of the letter making rounds on social media purporting to say that the event had been cancelled on moral grounds.
As if that is not enough, he even wondered what the event was about and what were the grounds considered for cancelling this fete before rubbishing it.
“I don’t know what you are talking about; as you are aware I am in caucus retreat in Kyankwanzi. I have not seen that letter and I don’t know who concocted it. As far as I am concerned, I have not written any letter to that effect,” Lokodo says.
It should be noted that late today a letter purportedly authored and signed by Lokodo directs the police to stop this event until it has been cleared by his office. This is due to what the letter terms as “alcoholism, pornography and immorality.”
In particular, the letter states “As a religious nation, we don’t like to promote alcoholism, pornography and immorality and feel this event which is purportedly an arts event may turn immoral.”
The letter goes on to say “I therefore write to cancel this event and invite you to my office to clarify on the general dynamics of the function.”
