Rock solid defender Mugisha Steven Alias Nesta, a former Nkumba University and Police Fc is between a rock and a hard place. Shortly after being successfully transferred to Burundi side ‘Le Messager De Nkozi Fc, the gangly defender has been summoned to play for the Burundi National team.
According to sources, he called back at home, in Naguru, a Kampala suburb where he was born and bred to ask for advice.
“His brothers told him to accept and play because the chance to play for the Ugandan national team might never come,” explained a source close to the family.
When The Kampala Sun reached out to Mugisha, he said it is a dream come true for any player to be summoned to the National team of any country.
“My target was to play professional football. To play at bigger levels and win at international tournaments. Since child hood, that has always been my dream. And it seems that with the exposure here at Le messager De Nkozi, I am going to achieve it,” Mugisha explained.
Nkozi fc is managed by former Espoir fc and Kiyovu Fc coach, Jimmy Ndizeye. The Burundi side is fairing well in the CAF champions league at the moment.
Asked what he chose between Uganda and Burundi, the defender said the opportunity that presents itself first is what he will take.
